Mr Bill’s Friends
The Rooftop venue attracts a wide range of talented people, all coming to work with Mr Bill, sharing their talents and creating unique musical experiences for their audiences. Here are a few of Mr Bill’s friends:
Dayo hails from the village of Didougou in Burkina Faso. He has backed up artists throughout West Africa.
Mascot is from the Delta State in Nigeria and has been playing since he was a child. Music has been his livelihood and he has played with such artists as Rita Marley, Sasha Marley and Black Rasta. His new song. “Tough Times” will soon be out.
Drummer extraordinaire Nzike has worked his way around West Africa, beginning in Cameroun (hometown Nkongsamba) through to Senegal, Mali, and now Ghana. His drum stylings are in hot demand, supplying percussion for a variety of musical types.
Evan came to the Rainbow briefly during his visit to Busua. He is currentlyposted to a remote village in Burkina Faso with Peace Corps. His guest sets with his harp were greeted with great enthusiasm and appreciation – we hope he will make his way back here soon.
The musical fusion on the Rooftop has taken on an extraordinary new tone with the addition of talented kora player, Haruna Kuyateh. He is from a traditional musical family in his home village, Kombo Lamin. Haruna is also a versatile singer, presenting both traditional songsĀ and blending his own style in with Mr Bill’s jazz background. The results have been truly magical.
